Ridge-Way, the historic Roman thoroughfare, has been an important landmark for centuries.
In the centre of Ridgeway village, The Old Vicarage stands overlooking the idyllic Moss Valley conservation area.

This delightful country house, built in 1846, for the Rev. Alexander Crawford Bromehead, is set in extensive grounds laid out by a celebrated Victorian horticulturist. Its rolling lawns and hidden copses still contain many fine specimen trees such as Cedar, Yew and Bay, from the original plantings in the 1850s.

During its conversion to a restaurant of national standing, an extensive one year restoration was carried out, returning the house to its former splendour, to create just the right setting for good food and wine.

The Old Vicarage is comfortable rather than grand, and exudes an aura of hospitality - it is easy to imagine that, 100 years ago, this house was used for entertaining on a lavish scale.

Nowadays, guests enjoy internationally recognised, award-winning food by T.V. chef Tessa Bramley. Her innovative blend of modern British cooking has earned The Old Vicarage prestigious Star Awards from the Michelin and Egon Ronay Guides.

The Old Vicarage has handled most things for its private clients, from small elegant dinner parties to classical music evenings, live jazz and even summer garden parties.

Most things are possible and there are no rules - so why not talk to us and let us co-ordinate the event for you.

Now you can hold your own private party here - just treat the house as your own and leave everything in the hands of the experts.

Wedding receptions are always a great success here.
What could be better than this perfect country setting for the most important day of your lives?

And did you know that you can actually hold the marriage ceremony here? With our extensive experience we can help you plan your day down to the last perfect detail - an idyllic setting with perfect food and a warm friendly atmosphere - a day to cherish forever!

Christmas is a special time at The Old Vicarage, a time when the house looks at its best. As yew logs crackle in the grate, and the smell of pine cones drift from the wood burning stove, relax and be merry in the perfect festive atmosphere.

End of year celebrations of all types can be planned from the small, personal and intimate
to larger scale business functions with private rooms.
